Vietnam’s Immigration Department has introduced a mandatory pre-arrival registration system for Phu Quoc International Airport, effective June 1, 2026. All passengers, regardless of nationality or visa status, must submit their travel information online before boarding their flight to the island.
The new rule at a glance
The regulation targets every traveler clearing immigration at Phu Quoc, covering tourists on the island’s visa exemption scheme as well as holders of standard Vietnamese visas. Submissions must be made within three days of departure through the government’s official portal: https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn
Authorities say the move is designed to cut processing times at the arrivals hall and ease congestion during high season, a recurring pressure point at one of Vietnam’s busiest island gateways.
How to register
Step 1: Visit https://prearrival.immigration.gov.vn and click “Create & Submit Pre-arrival Information.”
Step 2: Complete passenger details and visa information.
Step 3: Under “Visa Type / Purpose,” select “Phu Quoc visa exemption” if applicable; selecting any other option will cause a processing error.
Step 4: Enter flight number, departure date, and Vietnam accommodation address.
Step 5: Review and hit “Submit.”
Step 6: Screenshot the QR code generated upon completion; officers at the arrivals gate will scan it
The whole process takes under ten minutes with documents to hand.
What travelers need to prepare
- Passport valid for at least six months beyond the entry date
- Confirmed flight details (number and departure time)
- Full accommodation address in Phu Quoc
- A working email address for the system confirmation
Ground operators and inbound agencies should factor this step into pre-departure briefings for all arriving groups. Passengers who arrive without a valid QR confirmation may face extended processing at immigration — a disruption that affects transfer schedules and first-day itineraries.
Building the registration reminder into booking confirmation emails or pre-trip documents is a straightforward way to prevent avoidable delays at the airport.
