Vietnam just got a lot closer to India. Akasa Air has announced it will start flying non-stop between Mumbai and Hanoi from September 4, 2026, giving travelers a quicker way to reach Vietnam’s capital without routing through Bangkok or Singapore.

The airline will run four flights a week, on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Flight QP625 departs Mumbai at 05:35 and lands in Hanoi at noon local time, while the return flight, QP626, leaves Hanoi at 13:30 and touches down in Mumbai at 17:10. Flying time is around 4 hours 50 minutes to Hanoi and 5 hours 25 minutes on the way back, roughly three hours faster than a connecting itinerary.

Operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, the route is Akasa Air’s seventh international destination and its first foray into Vietnam. It’s also a notable first for Indian aviation: until now, only Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air flew this route, so Akasa becomes the first Indian carrier to connect the two cities directly.

For travelers coming from other parts of India, Mumbai works well as a launch point too, with easy onward connections from Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Goa, and Pune.

Hanoi has been drawing growing numbers of Indian visitors in recent years, thanks to its old quarter charm, French colonial architecture, and a food scene that keeps surprising first-timers. With a direct flight now on the table, a long weekend in Hanoi suddenly looks a lot more doable.
